Delivered in person and email copy.
To the Esteemed Members of the United Nations General Assembly and Security Council,
I, Jean-Pierre Murray-Kline, a published author from South Africa, intend to hand-deliver this letter in the second week of April 2022, alongside an emailed copy. This communication will also be converted into a published article and included in a book in 2023.
The purpose of my visit and correspondence is deeply meaningful. Having a family member associated with your esteemed organization, combined with my ongoing research on the impactful work carried out by the United Nations, has motivated me to reach out. Despite the magnitude of issues to address, I have endeavored to keep this message succinct out of respect for your valuable time.
In the current global climate, characterized by conflict, climate change, a pandemic, and numerous other imminent challenges, the trajectory of the world and the lives of all inhabitants are being profoundly shaped. It is against this backdrop that I humbly request your attention. This letter serves as a call for a thorough and urgent investigation into the pervasive corruption among South African politicians. I recognize the vast potential and charter of the United Nations and its diverse capacities.
I implore your intervention due to the unprecedented levels of corruption that have led to gross human rights violations—an issue that has persisted throughout my lifetime. My intent is not to shame South Africa but to amplify the voice of a concerned South African. Corruption has claimed lives, shattered livelihoods, and extinguished the hopes of many. The erosion of ethics and integrity through corruption has inflicted profound harm on human dignity.
As a nation grappling with challenges such as climate change, natural disasters, disruptive forces, and the enduring struggles typical of developing countries, South Africa finds itself handicapped in its ability to confront these pressing issues until corruption is effectively addressed. The historical interactions between South Africa and the United Nations underscore the potential for global influence on our nation’s trajectory.
Global awareness and external pressure have the power to bolster local reform efforts. The ethical, social, political, and economic conditions in South Africa reverberate on the world stage, underscoring the interconnectedness of global events. Your intervention aligns with the United Nations’ mandate for global peace, as the current state of affairs in South Africa impedes our collective capacity to contribute meaningfully to this vision.
I offer my voluntary support, leveraging my time, network, and skills to assist any initiatives you may propose in addressing this critical issue. I respectfully seek the opportunity to present a first-hand, real-time account to the National Assembly, should such an avenue for dialogue be extended.
With kindest regards,
But wait, there is MORE!
