Automation & Robotics

WHAT DO I COVER IN A KEYNOTE TALK ABOUT AUTOMATION & ROBOTICS?

A keynote talk on Automation & Robotics is normally requested when a client has a particular concern or interest in how robots or automated technology might affect their business or sector. This is something I must take into consideration and address in the keynote talk. However, I can, and normally do, cover a range of topics. Here are some key subjects I might include:

An Introduction to Automation and Robotics: I might offer a definition of automation and robotics, along with a brief history and evolution of these technologies.

Current Trends: It’s helpful for me to share some information on a general overview of current advancements in automation and robotics and share some examples of industries adopting these technologies (EG manufacturing, healthcare, logistics, etc.). Where possible, I will also give examples specific to the guests at the event.

Impact on the Workforce: Depending on whether I am booked for a talk only or a keynote with a panel discussion, or if I am asked for a surface-level or deep dive explanation, I might present a discussion on how automation and robotics are changing job roles for the guests at the event. I might also attempt to share insights on how one might balance job displacement concerns with opportunities created by new technology.

The Benefits of Automation and Robotics: These are far-reaching, and their potential cannot yet be fully imagined. I will discuss the increased efficiency and productivity for the business or sector, the potential for cost savings and operational improvements, and of course, enhanced safety and precision in various applications.

Challenges and Considerations: The other side of the coin. We must also discuss potential obstacles to adoption (cost, complexity, skill gaps), and of course the ethical considerations, such as data privacy and decision-making autonomy.

Case Studies: I can try to include relevant examples for the guests at the event, unpacking some real-world examples of successful implementations and perhaps discuss lessons learned from businesses and organizations that have adopted these technologies.

The Future of Automation and Robotics: I love to include future scenarios and predictions about upcoming advancements and trends. I normally try to weave in a call to action and encourage attendees to consider how they can leverage automation and robotics in their fields.

The structure I create is always customized per client, and I normally insist on a pre-consult to finalize the scope of content. Together with my client, I can help create a comprehensive and impactful keynote address that truly resonates with their event audience.
