Online Marketing
WHAT DO I COVER IN A KEYNOTE TALK ABOUT ONLINE MARKETING?
I love talking about marketing, especially online marketing! For a keynote talk, I will tailor the content based on the guests, but the following are some topics I might include. (I generally encourage a panel discussion or workshop post-talk for these sorts of subjects.)
A nice introduction to Online Marketing. It’s come a long way, and it’s going even further, especially with AI and ‘the metaverse’ system environments with VR and AR. An overview of online marketing and its significance in today’s business landscape is a great way to open a talk while offering some comparisons with traditional marketing strategies.
We should also cover key digital marketing channels. An explanation of SEO, content marketing, social media marketing, email marketing, and pay-per-click advertising, as well as how to integrate these channels for maximum effectiveness, is a vital discussion.
I like to discuss the importance of the target audience and buyer personas. Understanding the importance of defining target audiences is a step often skipped. Creating and utilizing buyer personas to tailor marketing efforts helps improve results.
Content marketing strategy. This is worth including because people do not really understand how to prepare content that engages customers and builds brand loyalty. There are some best practices for creating valuable, relevant, and consistent content.
Search engine optimization (SEO) is still one of the most important tools when it comes to web marketing and should be covered in all talks. We’ll go over the basics of SEO and its importance for online visibility, along with key techniques for optimizing website content.
Social media marketing. This is something many clients are interested in as well, but the truth of the matter is it does not work for every business and can, in some instances, actually have negative results. We can discuss strategies for leveraging different social media platforms and cover the dynamics of audience engagement on social media. I will also explain just how challenging social media algorithms are at the moment and why boosted campaigns are the only way to really get posts seen. Social media marketing no longer offers any free exposure.
Email marketing techniques. Very important! Nothing beats a good client database! The importance of email marketing in customer retention and conversion is crucial. I will discuss best practices for building mailing lists and crafting effective email campaigns.
Influencer marketing. This is another subject some businesses are interested in. I can talk about the rise of influencers and their impact on consumer behavior, as well as how and when to engage and collaborate with influencers effectively.
Emerging trends: a peek into the future. We can discuss current and future trends in online marketing, such as AI, personalized marketing, and, most importantly, voice search. I emphasize the need to quickly adapt to a rapidly changing digital landscape.
Some guests appreciate a bit of information on data analysis and metrics. Businesses put a lot of significance on strategy based on data, measuring marketing success. I discuss how this is often less important than key performance indicators (KPIs) or the proof is in the pudding approach.
The importance of mobile marketing comes first. Preparing marketing for cell phones and not PCs is not given enough attention. I talk about the trends and strategies for reaching mobile audiences and the importance of mobile optimization for newsletters, websites, and content for much smaller screens.
I encourage a client to chat to me prior to a keynote talk to finalize talk topics.
