Artificial Intelligence (AI)
WHAT DO I COVER IN A KEYNOTE TALK ABOUT ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE OR AI?
When I prepare a keynote talk on Artificial Intelligence or AI, I need to consider the audience’s level of understanding of technology, as well as the objective of the overall event I have been invited to speak at. I then customize the talk and might include any variety of these subjects:
An Introduction to AI. I wrote a really good AI manual called Mzansi’s AI Manual, and this is a great read, and I normally adapt some of this work into the opening of my talk. I briefly explain what AI is, including key concepts like machine learning, neural networks, and deep learning, some history, and some insights into where it might end up.
Current AI Trends. This is always an interesting component of a talk because people struggle to keep up to date with current AI solutions. I can discuss current applications of AI in various industries such as healthcare, finance, and transportation, and if possible, I will give some examples of AI related to the guests at the event.
AI Ethics and Privacy. I cannot offer a keynote talk on AI without discussing these subjects. I explore the ethical considerations and privacy concerns associated with AI, including bias, accountability, and the need for regulation.
AI and the Workforce. I can analyze and then share the impact of AI on jobs, including both the opportunities for new job creation and the potential for displacement, and as much as possible, talk through the looking glass of the guests at the event.
Future of AI. Who really knows the future? I can offer the best professional scenario on the future developments in AI, such as advancements in general AI, and discuss the potential societal impacts. I love talking about the singularity!
Case Studies and Success Stories. Some clients ask me to include case examples. When I do, I share, (when available), real-world examples where AI has made a significant impact, showcasing successful implementations and innovative uses.
Challenges and Limitations. With great power comes great responsibility. I address the current challenges in AI development, such as data quality, interpretability, and the “black box” nature of some models.
AI in Policy Making. I can discuss the role of AI in shaping public policy and its potential to solve global challenges. This is a particularly interesting topic in Africa.
Interactive Demonstrations. If possible, and if time and budget allow, I can arrange to include demonstrations that show AI in action to engage the audience.
What I cover in a keynote talk about AI / Artificial Intelligence is always customize based on the event’s guests and I generally include a pre-talk briefing.
