Blockchain & E-Money

WHAT DO I COVER IN A KEYNOTE TALK ABOUT BLOCKCHAIN & E-MONEY?

What sort of money will we be paid with in the future, and how do we keep a record of it? These are two very important questions, and I answer them within this talk.

I offer an introduction to blockchain, its definition, and the basic principles of blockchain technology. I then share an explanation of how blockchain works (decentralization, immutability, consensus mechanisms, etc.).

Jumping to the next subject, I offer an overview of E-Money, a definition for it, and its types (digital currencies, cryptocurrencies, electronic wallets, etc.). I will also share the status of the role of E-Money in modern financial systems.

Now that we have covered the basics, I discuss the relationship between blockchain and E-Money, explaining how blockchain technology underpins many cryptocurrencies and digital currencies. This is the time in my keynote talk where I will unpack the benefits of using blockchain for E-Money transactions (transparency, security, and cost-efficiency) and also share the advantages of blockchain in financial transactions: unpacking reduced transaction costs and processing times, enhanced security and fraud prevention, and improved traceability and accountability.

I’ll then offer the current trends in blockchain and E-Money, including the rise of cryptocurrency popularity (Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.), emerging digital currencies issued by central banks (CBDCs), and finally, the impact of DeFi (Decentralized Finance) on traditional finance.

Cases and Applications. I love to include some examples (relevant to the guests) of real-world applications of blockchain and E-Money in various industries (payments, remittances, supply chain, identity verification).

Challenges and Risks also need to be touched on, and I will briefly discuss regulatory challenges facing blockchain and E-Money, issues related to security, volatility, and user adoption, and environmental concerns surrounding cryptocurrency mining.

I end the talk by looking into the future. We take some time to discuss the future of blockchain and E-Money, and I’ll share my predictions for the evolution of digital currencies, potential impacts on global finance and economic models, and the role of innovation in shaping the future of payments. I will also share some insights on the implications for businesses and consumers and how businesses can leverage blockchain and E-Money to improve efficiencies.
