WHAT DO I COVER IN A KEYNOTE TALK ABOUT E-RETAIL?
Will there even be shopping malls in the future? Important question! There will be, but they are going to change a lot! My keynote talk on E-Retail covers a number of topics that highlight the evolution, trends, challenges, and opportunities within the online retail space and their influence on brick-and-mortar stores. While each talk is customized to the audience, I generally include:
An introduction to E-Retail, with a definition of E-Retail and an overview of the growth of online shopping and changing consumer behaviors.
I love to talk about the current trends in E-Retail because they really are fascinating. From the rise of mobile shopping and the impact of mobile commerce (also called m-commerce) to the growing role of social media in driving sales (social commerce), and how personalization and the use of data analytics play a part in enhancing customer experience and the end bill!
It’s important to take some time to cover E-Retail technologies. I offer insights on the technologies shaping E-Retail, such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and chatbots, and explain the importance of a robust e-commerce platform, payment gateways, and security measures.
I then move on to discussing the main challenges in E-Retail we can expect over the next few years, common challenges faced by E-Retailers, such as competition, return policies, and fraud prevention. I will talk about future consumer behavior in E-Retail, understanding customer journeys in the online shopping experience, who the customer actually is, and the significance of customer reviews, ratings, and community engagement. I try to spice up this part of the talk with some case studies and best practices, highlighting successful E-Retail brands and their strategies and analyzing lessons learned from both successful and failed E-Retail initiatives.
Towards the end of my talk, it’s time to cover the future of E-Retail. I offer my predictions for the evolution of E-Retail and emerging trends (e.g., sustainability, subscription models) will be shared, along with some possible strategies for success in E-Retail in the coming years, discussing the importance of building a strong brand identity and online presence, and also the role of customer service and support in fostering loyalty and retention.
